Kwyjibo, the name of our collective, is our personal metaphor that represents everyone’s journey and hardships that we overcome to produce our final productions. It is visualized and expressed in the shape of a mountain in our logo. Although we came from different backgrounds and culture, we are united as one as each of us climbs a steep mountain, each coming from different directions and places. In the end, we meet together at the peak of our Kwyjibo, and looking down we can see all the hardships we had overcome and where we came from. From the beginning, we are united by nature.
In these modern times, we could not meet each other due to the coronavirus. It is one of the representations of a hardship all of us share, yet we are able to be united again by technology. This is the reason for our theme, retrofuturism. Retrofuturism fuses the aesthetics and colours of both nature and technology. Together, 15 designers and artists work together to push the limits of each of our unique qualities to produce the best possible outcome of our design exhibition.
In our visual communications team, we strive to push the boundaries of the retrofuturism aesthetic quality in our character designs, posters, invitations, brand book and synopsis cards, by fusing the elements and colours of nature and technology.
Our website curation team aim to make an artistic portfolio which documents all work of all designers and consistency in terms of ideas, colour and aesthetic elements with the chosen theme. The website also shows Kwyjibo's designers' working process toward their final outcome.
We are to create a virtual space which will display all projects of the team whilst immersing our viewers within our retro-futuristic backdrop.
